I do so love it when people discover the wonders of the Audiofic Archive.
:)
Hey friends!
So, as I’m sure you’ve figured out by now based on the proliferation of posts about it over the past few weeks, last weekend was the Seattle Sherlock Con, and it was fanbloodytastic.
Myself, michellaree, and keerawa did a panel on podfic at the Con, and this is the intro that we played to get us started. Basically, we wanted to get a couple other voices from the podfic/Sherlock podfic community in on the conversation, even if everyone who wanted to be in Seattle that weekend couldn’t actually be there in person.
Dodificus, FayJay, Revolutionaryjo, Jinjurly, Lunchee, and Crinklysolution all sent us lovely little blurbs on why they podfic, how they got into podficcing in the first place, and what podfic means to them.
Hope you guys enjoy!

PS: apologies to the readers whose blurbs I had to cut down a bit for length (we only had 50 minutes for our panel and we ran over anyway). I’m thinking of remixing all the full-length blurbs and posting again so that everyone can hear the entirety of what y’all had to say, since it was all fantastic and really hard to cut!
PPS: Download link here if you guys so desire.
Heads up that Jinjurly has been hacked I think D: D: D: D:
I hope they fix it soon ;(
Balls. It says it’s down for maintenance rn, so can’t confirm if it’s actually been hacked. Will post updates if I get ‘em!
And we’re back!

Here it is, guys! First, a little bit of housekeeping:
- Please do reblog this link! Sharing is caring.
- If you do share/reblog, please make sure it can be linked back to this original post. Feel free to delete all this when you reblog, just make sure the link can be easily traced back to my Tumblr.
- You can find me, this podfic, and others as I complete them on Dreamwidth, my AO3, and eventually, on Jinjurly’s Audiofic Archive (updates on that one to come).
- This podfic is in audiobook format, so it has multiple tracks/chapters.
- Album art by blanketforyourshock.
- Foreword by the author, Ivy Blossom.
- Approximately 7.7 hours in length
- If you’re curious about the music I used throughout the podfic, you can find a complete rundown here.
- Original text of the story here.
Woohoo! Enjoy :)
Updated link.
I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since I finished this yesterday.
Also, hello new followfolk! Welcome, heaps of love your way, etc.

Also also, here’s the Audiofic Archive page for A Symphony of Chemical Reactions if anyone has need of it.

PS: next impulsive podfic installment coming your way soon Maz, here’s lookin at you kid.

That merited at least three cupcake-nomming Simons, apparently.
But yes, woohoo! I feel all official and stuff now. The podfic and podbook versions of The Progress of Sherlock Holmes are the only ones (of my three thus far) that are up, but more to come :)

Woohoo! Cybel over at Amplificathon created a podbook (one long track instead of lots of individual ones, in audiobook format, cover included, etc.) for my podfic of TPoSH. If you guys would like a podbook version rather than the mp3 version I posted a week ago, clicky clicky! That’s the direct download link — both versions will be up on Jinjurly’s Audiofic Archive shortly.
:)
PS: only thing that’s different in a slightly negative way is that the different audio channels (i.e. how Sherlock talks in the left speaker and John in the right) didn’t carry over into the new format, just FYI. The sound quality is really good though.
Oh, that’s a biiiiiig question, Nonnie, but a good one :)
OK, first: if you don’t know about Jinjurly’s Audiofic Archive, you must! It’s run by General Jinjur (or Jinjurly; she goes by a couple of names), who is a fanfic writer and podficcer across multiple fandoms. She’s absolutely awesome, and her audiofic archive is probably the most exhaustive/expansive place for podfic on the internet. Until very recently, the Archive was down because of malware issues, but it’s back up now! I think they’re still working on smoothing out a few glitches from the scare, but it’s mostly up and running again. You can browse by reader, by fandom, by pairing, by author, etc., much like on Archive of Our Own for fics. My suggestions in the Sherlock fandom would definitely be:
That’s a good start I think. Let me know if you have any questions :)
Also: followers, do you guys have any favorites to share? Let me know!
