The Science of Phonaesthetics

This is primarily my podfic space, where you will find links to ones that I've recorded, recs for ones I find particularly well done or special, and information on WIPs that I'm currently tackling. Oh, and general fannish flailings abound.

AO3 / Amplificathon / what's podfic?

A request: If you know me (or even think you know me) IRL/outside of fandom, I would greatly appreciate it if you sent me a private message letting me know so that we can chat. I'm mostly fine with people knowing about my fannish self IRL, but still appreciate the gesture all the same!

So Long And Thanks For All The Fish (Douglas Adams)

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

This isn’t really a podfic per se, just a snippet involving one of my favorite couples from one of my favorite excerpts from one of my favorite books ever.

And it’s about biscuits. And trains. And Englishness. And embarrassing miscommunications. And love.

Hope you enjoy.

PS: please excuse my wildly fluctuating accents (I recorded this with zero prep on a whim, wheeeee) as well as a few minor textual inaccuracies (I had to look this scene up online as I can’t seem to locate my copy of the book, and I have a feeling the transcript I found wasn’t entirely correct. Ah well. Cheers, mates.)

YAY!

So here she is, my first ACD canon podfic. Two Days was written by the wonderfully talented tweedisgood, and it was such a pleasure (and a challenge, holy Batman) to record one of Tweed’s fics for my first Holmestice.

Also, thanks to numberthescars for the cover art! Check out their incredible Holmestice gift art, Anniversary, for AfroGeekGoddess.

Another declaration of love to the awesome Maz - how can you be so talented? - and a small gift to the lovely Sylvia aka Cellar Door. I know you usually make yourself your cover arts, but, since you missed one (and what a podfic!) I couldn’t resist the opportunity to fix the issue and say my humble “thank you” for all the great recordings you are giving us. I hope you’ll both like it!

Give me the Keys

Summary: “The day John Watson roared up outside of 221b Baker Street on a sleek black motorcycle is the day Sherlock Holmes knew he was utterly and completely done for.” Sherlock has a little motorcycle kink. I apologize in advance for way too many jokes about riding, getting a leg over, and too many uses of the word “straddle.”

Fanwork gift swap for Sarah (AfroGeekGoddess).

This is a short, fantastic little piece of “smutty poetry” as the author puts it :) Dark, visceral, daring, hypnotic, sexy. So happy to have had the chance to podfic it. Hope you guys enjoy!

Sylvia (aka cellardoor) and I are preparing a delightful fem!Lock and Jane Watson and have been debating various clothing items all day. Spoilers: there will be Doc Martins involved. Tomorrow, shopping for cozy jumpers with Arae who will be playing (our?) Moran at the Con. I am excite!

More spoilers: I went shopping, too. Even more spoilers: I’m pants at taking iPhone pictures. But here you are. Excite indeed.

PS: The Con organizer still needs support in pulling this thing off! See this post for more info, and if you’ve got time/money/resources to contribute (every little bit, especially with this kind of collaborative event, really does count), think about pitching in and dropping the-mamishka a line.

Well kids, it’s not as polished as I’d have liked, but I’ve been meaning to get this one out for a while now, and who doesn’t need a little sweet n’ sexy bit of Sherlock lusting after John lusting after motorcycles by the ever lovely and talented Maz in time for Sunday tea, right?
